Leave it to Big-Name-Coffee-Shop! The pumpkin, that ancient orange vegetable of the new world, now has its name on a latte (and cereal… and beer… and even pizza). Thankfully there’s no pumpkin in the coffee, but it gets its distinct flavor from the spice used in the pie baked from the indigenous gourd.
Love it, hate it, or just roll your eyes at it, you can’t escape “pumpkin spice” in the fall. This perfect blend of cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg was introduced in 1934 by McCormick to make Thanksgiving easier on housewives. It took America 70 more years to realize that pumpkin pie spice made just about everything delicious.
At Grebe’s, we’ve decided not to fight it. In fact, we’re embracing it because we believe we have the best vehicle to showcase pumpkin spice – the beloved cruller. Our pumpkin spice cruller bites are made with real pumpkin combined with the freshest of spices. It’s like pumpkin pie in a cruller.
Something this “pumpkin-forward” might be a little bold for some bakeries but not for Grebe’s. After all, we’ve been selling our signature crullers for a million years (give or take a few), and we’ve perfected it to the point that we can introduce innovations with confidence. Judging by the response of our customers so far, pumpkin + crullers = may I have another please.
Grebe’s pumpkin spice cruller bites are available seasonally at our Lincoln Avenue bakery and can be found at many other convenient Wisconsin locations including Speedway, Woodman’s, Sentry, and Piggly Wiggly stores. Made and delivered fresh each day, they’ll go perfectly with your basic cup of coffee. No fancy drink necessary.
Pumpkin cruller bites will be available for a limited time only. Once they become a Milwaukee institution, you’ll be able to say you tasted the first ones that were ever made.
